Art curator Charlotta Kotik Receives the 2023 BBLA Award
We are delighted to announce that Charlotta Kotik has been awarded the 2023 BBLA Award for Unparalleled Service to Czech and Slovak Communities in recognition of her exceptional contribution. Ms. Kotik's unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the arts within our communities.
Charlotta Kotik is an independent curator based in Brooklyn with strong ties to the Czech Republic whose exhibitions have appeared around the world, including at the Venice Biennale, Musee d'Art Moderne in Paris, and National Gallery, Prague, and around New York, including at the World Financial Center and Czech Center. As chair of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum for 15 years, she created new programs that reflected a burgeoning borough art scene. The great-granddaughter of the first Czechoslovak President, T.G. Masaryk, Ms. Kotik was born in Prague and came to the United States in 1970.
