A leading young Czech flutist Jana Jarkovska will present compositions for solo flute and flute and electronics by five contemporary Czech women composers, Sylvie Bodorova, Eliska Cilkova, Ivana Loudova, Terezie Svarcova, and Sona Vetcha. Appreciating the flute’s wide range of melodic and dramatic expression, each composer uses the flute to speak in her own independent and distinctive voice.
Introduction by one of the composers, Eliska Cilkova.
Jana Jarkovska (b. 1983, Czech Republic) graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (2013). In 2003, Jarkovska won the first prize at The Czech Conservatoires’ National Competition. With her partner, pianist Bohumir Stehlik, she won the Chieri International Music Competition (2012) and a Pro Musicis International Award (2013, Paris). Jarkovska is a member of Bellatrix-Trio and Morgenstern Ensemble.
