Chamber Music for All: Klein, Haas, Smetana !CANCELLED!

  • Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association 321 East 73rd Street New York, NY, 10021 United States (map)

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

It is with regret that DAHA cancels the chamber music concert due to a family emergency affecting two of the musicians. We will reschedule the event when circumstances permit, and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Subscribers will be refunded.

Chamber Music for All, including members of the Charlotte Symphony, present a concert with curated commentary, featuring works by Bedrich Smetana, the towering historical figure of Czech music who was born 200 years ago (1824), and two 20th century composers whose unlimited creative output was tragically cut short by the Holocaust.

The featured works include: Gideon Klein; Pavel Haas, String Quartet no. 1 (1920); and Bedrich Smetana, String Quartet no. 1 in E minor, “Z meho zivota” (From My Life).

Musicians: Calin Lupanu, violin; Monica Boboc, violin; Marcus Pyle, viola; Marlene Ballena, cello.

Program commentary by Michael Beckerman, Carroll and Milton Petrie Professor of Music at New York University.
