Czech Republic – A Hidden Economic Powerhouse in Central Europe

A panel discussion examining the Czech Republic's opportunities for growth as the country invests in its future and builds off the past 32 years.

Three Czech and American economists and bankers will look at the Czech Republic’s economy since 1989 and discuss its future prospects for growth, taking its rightful place in Central Europe and the EU:

JAN SVEJNAR, Richard N. Gardner Professor of Economics and International Affairs and Director of the Center on Global Economic Governance at Columbia University.

JACK STACK has almost 50 years experience in banking. He was Chair and CEO of the Czech bank Česká spořitelna from 2000 to 2007. He then served as a member and Chair of the Supervisory Board of Česká spořitelna until 2021. He transformed the bank into a modern financial services provider.

TOMAS SALOMON, Chairman of the Board and CEO at Česká spořitelna, former Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of GE Capital Multiservis.

This discussion is part of Havel Conversations Online.
