Screening of a Slovak documentary film “Spytaj sa vasich ’89” (Ask at Home ’89) that brings an insight into the lives of people, through their reflections, in the former Czechoslovakia in the context of major social changes during the Velvet Revolution in November 1989. The screening is followed by an interactive Q&A with the director Barbora Bereznakova, engaging audience in the conversation through an event technology platform Slido.

The documentary brings an insight into the experience of personal history in the context of major social changes in the former Czechoslovakia in November 1989. It is a diverse reflection on the transformation of society, its interconnection with the previously closed world and the accustoming to newly acquired rights and freedoms. The revolutionary November days are still associated with strong emotions. This was a dynamic period in the history of Czech and Slovak nations when social, political and interpersonal relationships had been redefined. The Velvet Revolution established standard civil and human rights and freedoms.

“Spytaj sa vasich ’89” (Ask at Home ’89), 2019, directed by Barbara Bereznakova, running time: 27 min. In Slovak with English subtitles.
