From Bach to Dvorak to contemporary living composers, Indonesian-German violin virtuoso Iskandar Widjaja explores the range of classical and non-traditional music that make his instrument sing.  In a tribute to idealism and freedom of all ages, Iskandar captures meditative sounds that have a transcendental quality and focus, incorporating personal arrangements and transcriptions that provide a new vibe for today’s audiences. In this rare performance at Bohemian National Hall, discover the repertoire and charisma of a stellar young musician who has been attracting wide international attention.

Iskandar plays a Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin dating from 1875.

Iskandar Widjaja […] emerges as a true force of nature. […] Without in any way losing the structural focus and grip […] he plays with a Grappelli-like fantasy and freedom, that is deeply beguiling. […] There is no doubting the hypnotic intensity of the results, nor Widjaja’s engrossing imperativeness.
